TO: YOU - XMAS 2008

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

So once again it's Christmas and I have finally finished all the presents (regardless of how last-minute they are) and gave them to their delightful recpients.

I think the ideas that I got from this Xmas present-making will definitely be brought forward for the upcoming NTU Bazaar that I am going to tak part in. Gosh! I'm really excited about the Bazaar, but I'll talk more about it another day.

Freedom Earrings for Kelly. I even have to get 925 silver hooks specially for her because she has sensitive skin. The aquamarine beads are Swarovski crystals.

Freedom is a pair of wings and the limitless blue sky overhead.

Black Angel Necklace for Cheng. It's Swarovski crystals again. But she said it didn't look like one!

Pink Angel Necklace for Ginny. And it's Swarovski Crystals again. :)

Swarovski Hair Ties for Rina, Claire and Zaneta respectively from the left.

I think I am going to make at least one for myself too!

Xmas Tokens for the clinic staff. I tied cotton ribbon to the cute mini wooden pegs to make it more presentable.

Last but not least, the Amigurumi Horse for Grace. She finally got the Horse she has always wanted! :)

KELLY'S HOBO BAG

Tada! Presenting to you, the hobo bag I crochet for Kelly for her birthday. I used Moda Vera Bamboo/Cotton in this bright, funky fuchsia. One bad thing about this bag is that it stretches (as expected) to a less pleasing length. Well, but I think she still likes it! :)

Eco-friendly Xmas Card Competition

This is the Christmas card that we made for the competition we had recently! The card is actually A1 size. We spent several days trying to complete it and even had to stay back for 2 days or so to finish it. As you all should be able to tell from the picture, the Christmas tree is made from many many strips that we cut out from green aluminium drink cans.

The bronze strip that you see at the bottom is actually some sort of a floating ribbon, but the colour made it looked like a muddy path instead. This is the part that I didn't like about the card. :(

One of my favourites is the golden bells that we made. It's actually made of the top of the Yakult/Vitagen bottles and the bottle caps of the eye drops we have in our clinic! We sprayed gold spray all over it and scattered gold glitter on it before the paint dried. Tada! And we've got a pair of golden bells!

Another one that is also worth mentioning is the heaven-sent gifts with parachutes attached. The parachutes are made of the individual cells of the plastic egg carton wrapped with potato chip wrappers for a more appealing look. And as you can see, the gift is made from fruit juice carton!

The silver star is made from aluminium foil wrapped with old newspaper crushed to the shape of a star and the ribbon, is simply something we got from old Christmas decorations.
And for the snow men's face, we were all desperate and short of ideas by that time. So in the end, we simply grabbed the notice board pins we have on the table and the used super glue cap that was also lying around with the rest of the mess.

And with this project... *drum rolls* we've got the FIRST PRIZE, beating the rest of the other Outpatient clinic that took part in this competition.

Hope the Horse

Hope is an American Saddlebred who works with a travelling circus. He has been trained to perform daredevil acts like jumping into fire rings and walking onto hot, burning coals. The star of every show, Hope is a famous show horse who is well-loved by the crowd.

But Hope is not a happy horse. The cheers from the crowd do not delight him. The saddle on his back hurts him and makes his skin sore.

Hope dreams of going to the wild. He dreams of the green grassy fields where he can chase the winds. He dreams of the endless blue sky and the sun shining on his back. He dreams to be free...

Sweet, Lovely, Stripey Scarf

This 100% wool scarf is from Kelly. I really love the colours and it's definitely going to keep me warm during the chilly winters in Australia!

Donna's earrings

Tada! Well, I've not been making earrings for a long long time already. But looking at the amount of beads and findings I still have with me and the prospect of me leaving them here in Singapore to rot while I move on to Australia for my study... I think I better start some projects.

However I had planned to make this pair of earrings about a week ago after I watched Mamma Mia The Movie. This pair of earrings is the one that Donna wore when she sang "The Winner Takes It All". I have to admit that this isn't the exact replica. The one she wore is more of a U shape than a teardrop shape. Still... I love the earrings and I love Mamma Mia The Movie
